Roman Aquaducts

We've been studying ancient Rome for the past couple of weeks and of course there are a lot of aspects of their lives that really appealed to my boys. They loved learning about Gladiators and fighting and more gladiators and more fighting.... ah for the love of boys. But they were also fascinated with Roman architecture and building. Here's our version of the Roman aquaduct.

(the other boy in the picture is another homeschooled kid who lives two doors down from us)

And here is the absolute complete destruction of our aquaduct, it only lasted through two "rain" runs. Makes me grateful for modern day plumbing!!!

You might want to try showing them how an aqueduct is built using blocks and the arch design. The arch is what gave the aqueduct such tremendous permanence... it also blends right into discussions about "Keystones" and such, which I'm sure yo uare already aware of and have probably already had (LOL!). Neat project :).
