I am using Anna Comstock's "Handbook of Nature Study" for our science curriculum, in fact I'll be using it for the next 5 years so thank goodness we love it. It is a behemoth of a book and kinda a pain to lug around during our nature walks but she has such wisdom and insight, and I don't.

We were all wondering what happened to this tree. Why only this tree? bizarre.

Boys and sticks... it's primal. NOt sure if you buy into that, but I think it's true. Men childs have an instinctive desire to hunt, and that grabbing of sticks and stalking is just good ole' sweet DNA in action. Don't fight it, mold it ;).
